[Solved] How Did YOU Stand Out from the Competition When You First Opened/Entered a New Market
I am just getting going and could really use some advice!
We invested in branding early on—professional logo, consistent color scheme, and a website that didn’t look like it was from 1998. It gave us instant credibility and made us feel 'bigger' than we were.
Instead of trying to serve everyone, we went super niche. Instead of just 'landscaping services,' we focused solely on drought-resistant landscaping for eco-conscious homeowners. That made us the obvious choice for a very specific audience.
I built relationships with local schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations. We volunteered, sponsored events, and donated services. It created goodwill, and when people needed our services, they thought of us first.
We partnered with complementary businesses that already had our ideal clients. For example, as a wedding photographer, I teamed up with florists and planners. They referred brides to me, and I sent clients their way—it was a win-win.
